Önder Tekeli is a seasoned leader in the oil and gas industry, with over 30 years of corporate and operational expertise in exploration, field development, and business development. He has held senior managerial roles across national and international energy companies, consistently demonstrating a proven track record in delivering complex projects and fostering strategic partnerships. Before co-founding Altura Energy, Önder held leadership positions at Genel Energy, Turkish National Petroleum Corporation (TPAO), and other Turkish national energy entities. At Genel Energy, he served as General Manager for various oil and gas fields, successfully leading production growth from 50,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) to a peak of 150,000 bopd.

He also oversaw the construction and commissioning of multiple production processing plants, with capacities ranging from 50,000 to 200,000 bopd, ensuring operational efficiency and scalability. During his tenure at TPAO, Önder served as Country Manager for Iraq, leading the company’s participation in the Ministry of Oil’s tender processes and direct negotiations. Under his leadership, TPAO secured multiple oil and gas licenses, establishing a strong foothold in the region. His expertise encompasses license acquisition strategies, project negotiations, stakeholder engagement, and the development of large-scale field operations.

At Altura Energy, Önder applies his extensive experience to drive the company’s mission of partnering with exploration and production (E&P) companies to acquire and develop oil and gas licenses in Iraq and beyond. His visionary leadership and hands-on approach are integral to Altura’s goal of advancing sustainable and efficient energy projects in emerging markets.
